    That thing in Austin...

Just got back from the marathon that is SXSW... went to parties, participated on industry panels, lot's of meetings, watched bands, watched our own showcase... the whole thing rocked! We had about 25 people covering it, and as the official blogger for the event we were churning our great narrative and even better footage! I hope that you managed to see some of it... there is a lot! The team really 'hit it out of the park' to use a local colloquialism... we had trouble getting enough hotel rooms which led to doubling up..4 to a room, so I guess everyone got to know each other, perhaps I little better than they had wanted to... Of the performances I did see, I loved The Middle East... these guy's from Australia are really taking off, and rightly so. A totally new head space... check them out., I think they are one of the best out there and amazing live. I also managed to see Ben Rector, who I don't think will be unsigned for long. Neither will the British retro 80's band Fenech Soler, who took me right back to my prime! Austin is a very special place and the folks there put up with a lot over the festival, thanks for sharing your town and let's do it all again next year... See you on the site! Ciao Andy

    Collage Campaigns!

So the team in the "funny department" have got together and come up with a campus strategy to introduce us the the wider student world... It's a little out there! All based on a safe sex messaging campaign and being respectful to your room mate... and "Sexiling" them when you trick off! Not sure where it will lead, but they sure had fun filming the dorm room videos! Thought it would be best not to attend the shoot... although the only difference between a dirty old man and a frisky youg buck is age... I know what category I'd be placed in! Enjoy the videos when they come out, they will be on TheSexiled.com Ciao for now, Andy

    End of Festival Season...

So after a mamouth Lallopalooza last month and 100 hours of content in the can, the team went off to San Francisco's Golden Gate Park last weekend to film The Outside Lands. The line-up was stallar once again and I guess that the great content will start appearing on the site as it comes out of edit... Meanwhile we've had some great new ad's to the site...Moby, Paolo Nutini from the UK and most recently, Pearl Jam who have just started to build their profile... all in all a great end to the summer season! See you on line Ciao

    It's all gone SXSW!!

It's the Sunday before SXSW and the team went into the office to pack up the tech equipment for the festival... and by 12 noon it was all packed and put on the tour bus along witht he 14 strong production crew that will be shooting the vatious events that we are covering... the bus trip to Austin from LA is approx 21 hrs so it wll be a long time to be in a coach, no matter how well equiped it is! We did a last shop for supplies... the team are really diverse as personalities so it ran from good old trans-fat laden junk food to full on organic produce! Before they left we filmed everyone getting on board and I gave a final pep talk...which I guess they didn't need! EVERYONE is so ecited to be going, we're anticipating a lot of work but it is great to be right in the middle of what's happeningin the music world. Watch the blogs and follow our progress. Andy

    Is it all real ??

OK, so we've now been live for about 4 weeks and the pressure of the launch is off. Time to march to a different beat! Interesting to see the change in dynamics at the office as we all settle into building the site and the community. Getting lot's of feedback on the site (mostly positive) but we already have a "to do" list as long as my arm of additional improvements and changes that we want to make... but don't let that stop any of you sending in more ideas. We're also getting a HUGE amount of interest from indie labels who are looking for credible distribution, so watch the new artists added to the site.... we have TONNES of great ones! I've asked the tech team to work on some of the search tools and make some navigation changes... I so don't want to go down the same route that MySpace has gone! It has to be intuitive and logical ! If you are new to the site, just keep digging into those features (we have loads of them) and if you are an artist, look out for the various competitions and promotional activities that we will be working on with you. If (like me) you are a user-member, then you will soon get your own loyalty programme with points etc, just to make it all a little more interesting! Ciao for now, feel free to drop me a line if you wish. Cheers Andy

2 weeks to go...and mySpace is about to launch!

Had another busy week at the office and we are now about 2 weeks to launch... It seem's as the to do list is getting longer, even as we crack through outstanding issues... Today I saw the press release for the mySpace music offer, it looks interesting.. they seem to be going in a similar direction to us in that members can creat their own play lists etc, but since mySpace music is a JV partnership with ost of the music majors, I guess it will end up being another platform for them to promote their artists... totally mainstream. I guess that it will give the press something to compare us to, which is a good thing, I also think that it's great that the industry is finally getting some clarity of direction... let's see how I feel once they launch! Andy
