The Councilmen’s Bio

The Councilmen are Keaton York, 24 (guitar/lead vox), Julian Sanchez, 21 (bass/vox), Taylor Haley, 21 (drums) Kyle Appleton (lead guitar/producer). The band formed the summer of 2007, having grown up together in Bakersfield as friends and fellow musicians. The Councilmen being their second collaboration, their first attempt happened during high school.

The band influences range from their personal tastes to an amalgamation of local country roots and universal industry greats such as the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Crosby Stills and Nash, etc..

The bands focus was to take the energy of progressive rock and power bands and meld it with the attitude of early 60's & 70's rock before the Monterey festival and iron fisted take over of corporate America that fashioned "the music industry". The largest part of the band is their live shows.

    September 12 Recap Larry Bagby, The BigBang, Last American Buffalo!

    What a great night at Sandrinis in Bakersfield. We had 2 great bands from LA. Last American Buffalo and The Bigbang, amazing musicians and good people. The crowd loved them! Larry Bagby played a few of his originals, %u201CRadio%u201D and %u201CPlayer With a Heart%u201D, with The Councilmen as his band, along with Kyle Appleton on lead guitar! Came off well for having never practiced. Larry played and sang backup on The Councilmen%u2019s country tune %u201CBoxcar Sermon%u201D. Brad Johnson, great guy and friend of Bagby%u2019s, documented the evening for us! Thanks Brad! Brian, owner of Sandrinis said, %u201CIt was one of the best shows we%u2019ve ever had.%u201D We look forward to doing it again soon. Appreciate everyone that came out to support us! Cheers...

    Larry Bagby & The Councilmen

    Larry Bagby actor/singer/songwriter more recently known for his role as Johnny Cash’s bass player in the film “Walk the Line” is also a LP33 featured artist and will be sitting in with The Councilmen on the September 12th @ Sandrini's in Bakersfield California.
