fiN.’s Bio

PRESS RELEASE...

fiN are an unashamedly British rock band not afraid to be the polar opposite of the latest achinly hip genre to be tickling the underbelly of East London.

Refining their sound in a hut perched on the edge of a windsurfing lake, the isolation of their surroundings helped produce songs of epic impact including numbers reflecting on the throw away nature of the modern world and life after death.

Brought together by their love of Rage Against The Machine and Nirvana as teenagers, fiN, now in their early twenties, are ready to take off from rehearsing underneath the Heathrow flight path. In the tradition of Muse, Mansun and Biffy Clyro, fiN write stadium-ready anthems - hear them in a more intimate surrounding soon, they won't be playing clubs for long.

Influences:

Smashing Pumpkins Nirvana Muse Radiohead dEUS Mansun and many more....

Brilliant band, they have been writing intuitive music now since they left school and have an amazing back catalogue even if they do say they have moved on, of coarse the new stuff is brilliant. Well done boy's.

"Where Are You Now" used for Internet Safety Campaign Video

fiN are honoured to have "Where are you now" picked to back the recent Internet Safety Campaign by LP33.tv Craigslist.org. Please take a couple minutes of your time to read the following and watch the video. fiN. The Artists of LP33.tv got together recently to record a Public Service Announcement reminding their peers about a few basic common sense tips when meeting new people you've come across via the internet. Of course, the vast majority of the time meetings go well, but recent tragedies have shown that you should always be aware of your own safety. This message was inspired by the family of Katherine Ann Olson, who was killed after answering a Nannying job ad on-line. The family have set up a Scholarship in her name and there will be a concert to celebrate her life in Minnesota on May 3rd. Please support this cause and visit http://www.concertforkatherine.com .

(SXSW Day 7) Thankyou Texas, and Goodnight!...

To my surprise I woke to find myself without a hang over, and that's when I knew today was going to be a great day. Still buzzing from the memories of the night before, band and gang headed over to trinity to do the loading out of all equipment etc ready for the day ahead. We were told that we had been invited to a friends apartment (who owns Madgods clothing) for a family BBQ. When we arrived we couldn't believe how lucky we were! Im gonna let the photos speak for themselves but all I can say is THANK YOU for making our last day so special! After many dips in the hot tub, many vodkas, and many plates of home made mexican food we left and headed back to the bus thinking we were calling it a night. But then all of a sudden, we were told that right outside our bus was the smallest bar in Texas and it was still open! So we headed over and had a few more drinks and a lot of laughs. The trip had finally come to an end and I dont think any of us could of thought of a better way to end it. On behalf of fiN., Glen, RA RA, and Sam THANK YOU to everyone who made our SXSW experience what it was. See you next year! x

    (SXSW Day 6) Dirty Monkey...

Today was the day that we all were building up to. Luke jumped down from his bunk after being silent for 2 solid days and was asked by Si "hows the voice?". You can imagine that it was a worry for the band and everyone was praying for a vocal miracle! Luke smiled, opened his mouth and said " its all good man!" He had completely regained his voice and we were all relieved that this trip was going to end how we wanted it to. The band had two shows lined up today, the first was on the roof of Wave. it was the Dirty Boots showcase and the band were very excited to be doing this show. They had gotten close to Sam (who runs DB) over the whole trip and felt honored to be doing the first ever DB showcase in Texas. They were about half way down on the bill and by the time they came on stage the party was very much in full swing. They took all that pent up stress from the week and went nuts, you could tell they were loving every minute of their set. It was a great show and the band were totally buzzed up to play again. Later that evening the band headed over for the second show. The show was being held at the Chuggin Monkey and was a part of the red gorilla festival. It was packed and you could tell that people were up for it before the band even played. It was an electric set for fiN. they went crazy, it kicked off! After the show was over everyone was in high spirits, the band were so happy and grateful to play these two show and they knew that it had gone well. After the show we all headed off to see a few bands and everyone was partying till the early hours. it was officially the last day of the festival but we had one day before our flight home. We will never forget the day that fiN. rock Austin, Texas!.

(SXSW Day 5) Trinity On 5th...

Today was by no means a day off for fiN. (not that you can call this work!) The bus was conveniently parked on 5th street for the whole time we were there, outside our bus was an "artists area" with a number of fantastic things... firstly the most important facility that the artist area provided was... Porta Loo's. I can hear you asking yourself "why is this so special?" well... Our bus (like most tour buses) had a toilet but the rules stated that no soul living or dead can put anything solid down said crapper. So when ever anyone needed to offload some friends it was nice to know that the nearest pool was only footsteps away. The fenced off area also provided us with free food and drink, plus a free back rub when ever required! this is handy when you are walking around all day watching great band and eating free snacks (its a hard job but we dont complain). The band spent the day checking out some music and networking, they also headed out for a couple of photoshoots and did a short DJ set at the Beauty Bar. A bit later on we all headed to Buffalo Billiards for a meeting about saturdays shows, among other things. Sam had finally gotten his flyers through for the Dirty Boots showcase and it was decided everyone would pitch in and flyer the place. After a number of Millers and a series of serious games of air hockey we headed off. The evening was spent mainly at Latitude30 checking out the talent there... Oh and I forgot to mention Luke didnt speak a word the whole day... Saturday is fast approaching.

    (SXSW Day 4) Voice Arrest...

Another sunny day in Austin and another day without a voice. After an enjoyable breakfast in a local hotel, Luke wondered off to the doctors to get some advice and hopefully drugs to fix his vocal problem. In the mean time the rest of the band headed off to check out a few bands and an excellent acoustic set from Cage The Elephant. Luke returned a few hours later with a lot of drugs and was told that he was not aloud to speak a single word for two days straight! it was decided that the show on Friday would be canceled and the band would hopefully be able to play the two booked shows on Saturday and go out with a bang!. The band went off for a photo shoot around Austin, even getting in a bit of trouble with the law! or did they?... It was decided that the best thing to do was to get Luke A pad and pen so he could communicate without talking and head off and check out some of the talent playing this years showcases... But before the band could do that they had an interview booked over at the main hall with the guys and girls at LP33.com you can check out the bands interview below: fiN, In The Lounge

(SXSW Day 3) Raise Your Voice ...

There's no better way to start a day than waking up to bright sunshine! Especially when you live in the UK. So you can imagine, when the sun rose over the blissful city of Austin and Luke awoke to find that his voice had decided to go on it's own vacation, it wasn't exactly what he had in mind as a perfect start to the day! Not only had he completely lost his voice but today was the bands official SXSW showcase! This couldn't have come at a worse time, the band hadn't been in Texas for very long and it was starting to look like the entire trip was going to be a major downer for the whole band. Luke spent the whole day trying to rest back at the bus while the others went into town to watch a few bands. It got to 8pm and the band sat on the bus trying to figure a way round it, but Luke's voice was completely dead. He could hardly talk let alone sing! The band decided to at least try and play something! They hadn't come all this way to sit on a bus. Plus they really wanted to get out on stage to vent their frustration! They decided to play Circa 1:16 cut down as a rocked up instrumental and then Life Is Wasted On The Living. Just two songs... The band walked on stage and with what little voice Luke had he said "as you can hear my voice has fucking gone, I haven't come all this way to not at least try so please bare with us!" The band went for it! Luke screamed his heart out while the others put everything they had into this five min set! By the end they were so pissed off they were throwing their guitars in the air and smashing them to the ground. When it ended they dragged themselves off the stage with the feedback of guitars in their wake! It was short, but it was the best they could do under the circumstances. Now what to do about the rest of the shows...

(SXSW Day 2) Hello Austin ...

I have never experienced jet lag before. That is until now! So when it hit me (second day in) i suddenly had no recollection of what day or time it was! this made it difficult for me to tell what hour we arrived in Austin. What i do know is that the sun was well and truly hot and the air con in the bus was well and truly maxed out! The festival didn't officially begin until the following day so when we arrived in Austin it was pretty dead. The streets were like any other, except there was this unexplainable feeling that something special was going to happen. We parked up outside the bands showcase venue (Latitude30) and proceeded to load all the back line into the venue. After grabbing some Mexican food the band headed back to the venue for a rehearsal. As the band rehearsed passers by were walking in off the streets to listen and grab a free CD. The whole band were buzzing at the idea of the whole festival. I remember thinking that if people are this interested in fiN now then imagine how crazy its gonna be when the festival kicks off! The band then headed over to the MADGODS warehouse. The guys at MadGods are a great company and have some amazing t-shirts! They were kind enough to sort fiN out with some great clothes for their photo shoots out in Austin and we were all so grateful of all their help. go check em out www.madgods.com. A few hours later the band headed over to The Blind Pig to play a warm up show. But arrived to find the bar was closed due to fire, so they headed back to the bus and began working on the acoustic set. At around midnight the band got a phone call and were told we had a last min show at small club across town. The band hit the stage at 1am and did a great first show, full of energy and killer songs. Thanks to all who came to support them. What a great Second day! tomorrow the festival begins for real!

(SXSW Day 1) And so it begins....

(SXSW Day 1) And so it begins.... It all started when i was rudely awakened by my alarm clock at a ridiculous time in the morning. It was arranged that we would all meet at 8am and would check in together. I had never been to Heathrow terminal 5 but upon arrival it dawned on me that this terminal was designed for people who hate airports... like me. So after a brief check in we grabbed some food and boarded the big metal bird in the sky. A lengthy but easy 10 hours later we softly landed on Texan soil. We were greeted by what can only be described as a "beast", and for seven wonderful days this "beast" was the place we would be calling home. Now i have never been on a tour bus before let alone one worth this kind of $$$$!, to sit on it was a dream come true for all of us. The band were buzzing and grateful of the opportunity to be playing in America let alone be on a tour bus of this size. We were under the impression that we were heading to Austin straight from the airport but were told that first we were going to a real "Texan Ranch". this ranch was around 4 hours away so we stopped off at the truck stop and grabbed beer and nachos. The first thing that i noticed about Texas is that everything is HUGE. From the trucks and pickups you see in the movies (which really don't do them justice) to the bags of chips you can buy that would be the equivalent of one of the UK's Multi-pack bags! you get a feeling that everything here is larger than life. By night fall we arrived at the Ranch. This place was fantastic in every way and we were made to feel completely at home. the band had a chance to chill out for a while as they were driven round on the back of a pickup truck and given a guided tour of the 150 acres of land. We then headed back to the main house for some food and taken up to a jam room where the band played a few songs and a bunch of classic covers. We "hit a wall" around midnight (Texan time) as we had all been awake for around 23 hours already and headed back to the bus for a sleep... I really don't think there could of been a better way to kick off our trip out here. The general feeling amongst us all was that we had struck gold!...
