Chromeo’s Bio
Synth pop revisionist duo Chromeo formed in Montreal in the early 21st century, a project of Audio Research honchos Dave One and Pee Thug (news flash: not their given names). Dave handled the electronics; Pee was the frequently processed vocalist. From the beginning, Chromeo made it clear that artful detachment, cheesy electro-funk breakdowns, and gleaming plastic beats -- not serious intent or aggressive musical regime change -- were the name of their well-dressed game.

Which one of these is more perfect?
I went on a bit of a rant about Exile on our newly inaugurated Twitter the other day (this article sort of corroborates my point, by the by), only to later embark on a YouTube spiral, reminding myself of how phenomenal the band’s late Mick Taylor-early-Ronnie Wood period was. These guys were the absolute dons of style. Three degrees of perfection right here…
I don’t think I’m the only one who believes that Waiting On A Friend is one of the greatest videos ever made, right?

My two favorite songs in the entire universe right now…
Two completely different styles. This one is pure badass groove. The type of charmingly clumsy rock-guy disco that we tried to pay homage to on Night by Night. Notice that homeboy’s combover-mullet combo is the quintessential business casual haircut: as they say, business in the front, party in the back.
And now this is simply one of the most beautiful things I’ve heard. I have a strict ban on the word “epic”, but if any track deserves that epithet it’s certainly this one. Check the acoustic breakdown into the string flourishes into the guitar solo into the guitarmonies into the singing coda…I mean, it’s like the history of the universe condensed into 7 minutes. We. Are. Not. Worthy.
Oh yeah, Kanye “Power” and that Drake/Lil Wayne “Miss Me” are currently in heavy rotation too.
